Top Notch Musical Theater

Some Enchanted Evening presents a selection of show tunes, classic pop, American Songbook standards and more by Carole Demas, who originated the role of "Sandy" in Grease on Broadway. Ms. Demas has been praised by critics such as Clive Barnes and by Andrew Martin, who calls her "a powerhouse of musical theatre." She has performed off-Broadway in The Fantasticks, and appeared in numerous television shows, commercials, and regional theatre productions. A teacher for many years in the New York City school system, Ms. Demas also starred for 12 years in The Magic Garden on WPIX TV. She will be accompanied by her music director Ian Herman on piano and by guitarist Sean Harkness for one night only, Saturday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m.
Caribbean Community Theatre (CCT) is a performing arts non-profit organization established on St. Croix in 1985. CCT presents a full season of theatre from November through July, and offers audiences two exciting musical productions in February and March of 2011.
Cabaret, the award-winning musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb, will be performed at CCT all four weekends in February (see dates and times below). Set in Weimar Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power, Cabaret focuses on nightlife at the racy Kit Kat Klub, and on the relationship between the alluring burlesque performer Sally Bowles and a young American writer. The production uses innovative choreography and various forms of puppetry, which serve to heighten the dramatic aspects of the story and add to the stunning visual spectacle. In addition to the title tune, Cabaret includes such memorable songs as "Two Ladies," "I Don't Care Much," "Mein Herr," and "Maybe This Time." Cabaret is directed by Ruby Des Jardins with music direction by Patrick Baron, and features performers Daniel Deane, Mariah Shabazz, Charles Braslow, Marilyn Chakroff, and many other talented actors, dancers and singers from across the island.
