Above It All at Meggie Hill
Photography by Stephanie Schoyer

Perched atop a 400 foot knoll, on the East End of St Croix, overlooking Teague Bay is the tastefully and sturdily built property "Meggie Hill". The name "Meggie" comes from a word for a Danish goat. The one acre knoll where the house sits was once home to herds of goats.
It was built from the slab up, the only thing left after Hurricane Hugo (1989) destroyed the previous residence, by a contractor who owned a nearby house. It was completed in 2000 and consists of four bedrooms suites, a den, dining room, 3-car garage which includes one for the guest apartment, plus a 25KW generator! The building was carefully designed to take advantage of the amazing and breathtaking 360 degrees vistas and tradewinds. The property has the undeniable way of refreshing one's spirit and uplifting one's mood.

Tropical details prevail throughout with Danish brick accents on the exterior, and cypress wood ceilings in the den and dining room with tumbled marble floors on the interior. A fabulous covered outdoor dining area with a large pool and sundeck with gazebo offer the epitome of outdoor living comforts. Island breezes keep the living areas cool but central air can be used in the bedrooms when needed. The entire property is artistically decorated in tropically appropriate themes.
One guest bathroom, in the lower apartment, has marble walls in the shower. The owner/builder had brought some of the marble from his project at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Grand Cayman islands back in his own plane.
