What kind of sailing magic would you like to experience?

What kind of sailing magic would you like to experience?“There is something magical that occurs while sailing in open waters – so totally steeped in nature with its awesome beauty, power and motion – that naturally brings people together, creating trust, authenticity, friendship and fun. For me, that’s what Lightheart Sailing is all about.” – Captain Peter Branning
Lightheart Sailing has been named “Best Charter Boat on St. Croix” for three of the four years it’s been in business – and for good reasons: the experiences offered, the boat, and the crew.
Lightheart Sailing offers a wide-ranging menu: full-day and half-day charters, sunset sails, islandhopping cruising charters, and award-winning sailing instruction. On St. Croix charters, your experience will be custom-designed for you. You are welcome to take the helm, handle lines, or just sit back and relax. You can stop at a reef for snorkeling, sail offshore, or sail through the anchorage along the boardwalk in Christiansted. Lovingly prepared food and beverages will be close at hand, as will the crew to support and encourage you.
If you want to learn to sail, Captain Peter Branning is among the best of the best to teach you. Named “Outstanding Instructor” by the American Sailing Association, Peter has been sailing since he was a wee lad, and instructing for almost that long. He offers ASA certification courses 101 through 105 as well as informal instruction. He’s won multiple state, national and continental racing championships himself, and has coached many individuals and teams to success in local through international competitions.
Peter is a USCG-licensed captain and master. He’s a life coach who has also been a commercial pilot and flight instructor, a firefighter, lifeguard, and schoolteacher. His wife and business partner Martha Boston is also a USCG-licensed captain and master. She has spent most of her professional life designing and facilitating personal and professional development experiences, in settings from corporate boardrooms to sailboats, mountaintops, and even online.
In 2008 Peter and Martha went to Marblehead, MA to buy their beautiful boat Lightheart – a 40-foot Hanse sloop. She’s a modern performance cruiser, light to the touch, quick on her feet, and a joy to sail with beautiful teak decks, comfortable cockpit cushions, and awnings to provide shade at anchor. Below is a light and airy European interior featuring three staterooms, salon, galley, head and shower. She provides comfort, beauty and performance whether you’re aboard for a sunset sail or an extended cruise through the islands.
Peter & Martha spent several years living aboard, sailing Lightheart down the U.S. eastern seaboard, throughout the Florida Keys and the Bahamas, and cruising the eastern Caribbean. Now settled at Green Cay Marina on St. Croix, Lightheart and her crew are eager to help you create your own magical experiences on the water.
Peter and Martha both say that their favorite thing about Lightheart Sailing is their guests. “However they participate, we’ve found that almost always the conversations aboard Lightheart are interesting, and the experiences we share on the water are fun. Our guests tell us their time on Lightheart was the highlight of their vacation.”
