Its mango season! And, the St. George Village Botanical Garden moves into its 20th year celebrating this, and now, other fruit on Sunday, July 10 from noon to 6:30 pm.
With a supremely distinctive shape, smell, color and taste, the mango evokes the warmth, flavors, fragrances and exotic beauty of the Tropics. But the event expanded in 2000 to include other tropical fruits and their uses and now displays over 80 varieties of mango and over 30 other types of fruit--all grown on St. Croix!
Other highlights include food vendors selling products made from mango and other tropical fruits, craft vendors, a farmers' market featuring fresh fruit and vegetables, fun and educational children's activities, "Mango Dis, Mango Dat," a popular food contest featuring drinks, deserts and sauces, and the very funny Mango-Eating Contest where hundreds of spectators gather to watch the competitions.
Mark your calendar. See you on July 10 for one of St. Croix's favorite cultural events!
