Alexander Hamilton Museum Proposed for Christiansted!

Alexander Hamilton Museum Proposed for Christiansted!Alexander Hamilton is really getting around these days! The St. Croix Economic Development Initiative (SEDI) has announced plans to build a world-class museum in the Christiansted Historic District, a development to be called the Alexander Hamilton & Caribbean History Museum (AHCHM)!
There’s a land plan and site agreement, funding and grants in the works, and a final design expected within the next six months. The museum will not only celebrate Alexander Hamilton, who spent his formative years here on St. Croix, but will educate and promote the rich history of the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean Region.
Some of you may remember the chosen property, on Hospital Street, as the old “Captain Weeks” Seafood Restaurant, a ruin now located across the street from Ft. Christiansvaern and its parking lot.
“This undertaking is SEDI’s primary initiative in the roll-out and implementation of its major JumpStart Tourism Economic Development Initiative,” says Managing Director Anthony Weeks. “Captain Weeks” just happens to be my grandfather and I’m honored to be working with the same historic building that he had.”
Alexander Hamilton Museum Proposed for Christiansted!SEDI is a macroeconomic and public policy think-tank group, created by the 2007 St. Croix Economic Summit. This project was introduced at a Press Conference at the site on March 30, 2017.
